The New York City Subway is the most beloved and despised city institution. It is notorious for unforseen service changes and urinating homeless people adding excitment to every trip. Of course, there are some fun surprises too- the busker singing Radiohead covers or Raquel Zimmerman dressed like a disco queen on the A train.

Fly Away

For our Mango Mamacita photoshoot, I sported a hat designed by my aunt Rumi, a beautiful fascinator with beading and feathers. I was so inspired by it's bird-like form that I decided to design and make an avian halloween costume.  I loved how easy it was to move and dance in, best of all, I felt like I was soaring.
