Real, Dyed, and Fake

Nick explores material culture and globalization by looking to the work of golden-age Dutch painters, who lived during the nascent of global trade. Flowers, tulips in particular, were symptomatic of new and overwhelming market forces. Aesthically, I love how painterly this photograph becomes due to the contrast of the dusty oranges fall outside and the artificial pinks of the still life.
